The BMW 502, introduced in 1954, was the first German post-war vehicle with a V8 engine. Due to its elegant bodywork and luxurious interior, this vehicle was also known as the “Baroque Angel”. A total of 12,450 examples were produced over a ten-year construction period – but none were like the Baroque Angel that flew out of our halls.
Perfect starting point
The 502 was first restored on behalf of a customer. To do this, the vehicle was completely dismantled. In addition to the mechanics, engine, gearbox and axles, the entire interior was also removed. In this state, we were able to completely overhaul the bodywork and eliminate all defects.
100 liters of “fuel”
While the engine and gearbox remained outside, we converted the interior and trunk into a bar with a dispensing system and drinks storage. First of all, holders for drinks barrels with a capacity of up to 100 liters were made in the interior. The trunk was then clad with sheet brass. Finally, the cooling system was clad in brass, the taps were brass-plated and the lifting mechanism was designed.
One of a kind
With a fully functional dispensing system, the BMW 502 Bar is a unique piece that perfectly complements any event, exhibition or celebration. Despite the 100 liters of liquid in the tank, this baroque angel cannot drive under its own power, but is moved as a rolling exhibit.
