The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Torpedino from 1940 is a masterpiece of Italian automotive art. With its elegant, streamlined torpedo body and powerful 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine with 110 hp, this model embodies sporty elegance and technical excellence. This model is a coveted collector’s item and historical gem.
Modern technology for originality
State-of-the-art technology was used to restore this collector’s item to its original condition in the best possible way. The intact side of the vehicle was scanned and digitized. Based on this, the fender was mirrored in a CAD file to produce a wooden mold for the damaged side. This served as a tapping model for the subsequent production of spare parts.
Back to original
First of all, the damaged body side was shaped back as far as possible using a hydraulic press. The fender was then dismantled and a partial replacement was made for the damaged structures underneath. The damaged part of the aluminum outer skin was then reproduced with the help of the tapping model mould.
Reproduction of the outer skin
The aluminum partial replacement was integrated into the existing bodywork and then aligned and finished. This created a flawless surface that could then be painted.
