The “Homo Faber” exhibition took place in Venice in 2018. It brought together the best artisans and designers in Europe and offered them space to present themselves. The aim of the organizers is to increase the appreciation of homo faber, the creative person and their craftsmanship. With the awareness and interest gained, we can pass on craftsmanship to future generations indefinitely.
An egg for eternity
In collaboration with the Munich lighting designer Ingo Maurer and the color artist Enno Lehmann, we developed a painted aluminum sculpture. The body of the sculpture consisted of an aluminum corpus manufactured by us, which was painted on the inside with a particularly intense color by Enno Lehmann. A special technical feature of the sculpture is the interior lighting, the technology of which cannot be seen from any angle.
The body
The basic body of the sculpture is made of aluminum. Several segments were formed and welded together using a Kraftformer. The forming process requires a high level of craftsmanship, as the pattern on the body is already predefined in this step. The subsequent appearance cannot be changed in any later work step – everything has to be perfect right from the start.
The presentation
The exhibition took place in the premises of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice on an area of almost 4000 square meters. The sculpture was exhibited suspended from the ceiling. With the help of a mirror, visitors could marvel at the inside of the work of art.
