Eye-catcher in the entrance
The “Linde Wall”, created in 2008, is an impressive sculpture made of polished aluminum. It adorns the foyer of the former Linde headquarters in Oberanger in Munich. In combination with LED strips in the ceiling, the art object creates a unique play of light.
With models to perfection
With external dimensions of almost 7 meters high and 5 meters wide, the Linde wall is an architectural highlight. At 75 m², the sculpture spans two pillars that ensure the building statics in the middle of the foyer. In order to select the correct proportions for the wall, a model was first produced. This model was used to optimize the harmonious appearance. Based on the model, a CAD file of the Linde wall was created using a scan.
The production
The CAD file was used to create a production jig from laser cuts. It also served as a substructure at the installation site. Due to the construction conditions on site, the Linde wall was limited in its maximum component size and had to be divided several times. This resulted in a total of 12 individual segments. Each segment was first formed using a Kraftformer, then aligned and sanded.
A reflection of light and shadow
The polished surface texture in particular makes the sculpture stand out. The mirror-smooth appearance creates unique reflections and connects the ceiling with the floor in a flowing manner.
