The BMW 507 from Elvis Presley

Rock 'n' Roll

Export to the USA

Elvis Presley’s BMW 507 is a historic automobile whose story begins in 1958. In that year, the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” acquired his BMW 507 Roadster while stationed in Germany. On his return to the USA, Elvis took the car with him and it changed hands several times. During this time, a Chevrolet engine and gearbox were also installed in the vehicle.

Barn find

In 2014, the BMW 507 was discovered in a warehouse in California and subsequently sent to Munich for restoration. The extensive bodywork was carried out entirely by us. First, the outer skin was carefully separated from the vehicle. The full extent of the damage only became apparent after acceptance.

Old substance in a new body shell

Due to the Chevrolet engine, numerous frame components had to be restored to their original condition. To do this, the vehicle was first stripped of paint in an immersion bath. The floor assembly was then restored to its original condition. The outer skin of the vehicle was completely rebuilt from aluminum.

Perfection despite tolerances

The parts of the outer skin were produced on knock-on models made of model-making plastic. As every vehicle of the time had large tolerances, the parts had to be individually adapted to the vehicle.
